Our Stud
Steve and Di Stockdale founded Aysgarth Angus in 1993 after purchasing six yearling heifers from John and Helen Laimbeer’s Waihohonu Angus Stud (Puketutu origin). We then purchased more heifers from Inniscreag dispersal sale in Putaruru. More recently we have obtained Turihaua cows (from their Centenary Sale) and Taumaru Cows from their dispersal.
Herd Sires have been purchased from Waihohonu and Waimata Studs, with an emphasis on conformation and NZ genetics. We have also used semen from Turihaua Sledge. His son was used as a Sire across heifers and their progeny are now represented in the herd.
We selected the animals using visual appraisal technique (traditional type with high meat yield) combined with a preference for low birth weight animals with a good temperament.
All heifers are mated as yearlings. Our calves are weighed and tagged at birth, and all stock are fed grass, with meadow hay for supplements during our harsh wet winters.
Yearling bulls are available for sale through private treaty. You are most welcome to view our herd and accommodation is available (self contained cottage).
